‘The Killing’ star Mireille Enos has joined the cast of IF I STAY – R.J. Cutler’s debut feature film centered around teenager Mia who has to choose between life and death when a horrific car crash puts her into a coma. Enos is in talks to play the character of Kat, Mia’s mother, described as a free spirit, fiercely protective of her family, with a passion for rock music.
Chloe Grace Moretz officially joined the cast as lead Mia last month after being rumoured for the part for months. The film is based on the novel by Gayle Forman released in 2009 and if the film does well there’s a sequel available in Forman’s 2011 follow-up ‘Where She Went’.
Enos recently finished production on season 3 of ‘The Killing’ as crime detective Sarah Linden, as famous for her knitwear selection as much as her crime-solving skills. She featured in Ryan Gosling/Emma Stone action drama GANGSTER SQUAD as well as the Brad Pitt zombie horror WORLD WAR Z. Up next, and due to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival next month, is DEVIL’S KNOT which looks at the trial of the West Memphis 3; three teenagers accused of satanic murders in Arkansas in 1994. Their story was also the basis of 2012’s BAFTA nominated documentary WEST OF MEMPHIS and Enos plays the role of a key witness during the trials. Also in the pipeline for Enos are thriller QUEEN OF THE NIGHT, where she’ll play opposite Ryan Reynolds, and SABOTAGE which also stars Arnold Schwarzenegger.
IF I STAY is currently in pre-production with no announcement on a release yet.
