Hugh Grant Takes To The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

British thesp and star of some of the biggest romantic comedies of all time, Hugh Grant, has officially joined the case of THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. The film, based on the classic 1960s spy show, joins the already cast Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer, who play Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin respectively.

The film is being directed by Guy Ritchie, and is housed over at Warner Brothers. Grant will play the head of British Naval Intelligence.

THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E. revolves around a couple of special agents, Solo and Kuryakin, who work for the mysterious United Network Command for Law Enforcement (U.N.C.L.E.).

Richie will co-write the script with Lionel Wigram, who he worked with on both of the SHERLOCK HOLMES movies, which were massive successes for the WB.

The original show was broadcast on NBC in the US from September 22, 1964, to January 15, 1968. The new film version, which is guaranteed to be full of Ritchie’s gung-ho, machine-gun style directing, hits cinemas in 2014. Shooting kicks off in September.
