Oscar-nominated screenwriter Scott Frank, best known for work on Steven Soderberg’s OUT OF SIGHT and most recently, impressive X-MEN spin-off THE WOLVERINE, has revealed that he is currently hard at work rewriting the script for Fox and Ubisoft Motion Pictures’ adaptation of video-game ASSASSINS CREED. However, he didn’t disclose the name of the original writer which is still unknown. The project has the brilliant Michael Fassbender set for the lead, as well as serving as a producer, but we’re still awaiting confirmation on a director.

Frank has just completed work on his directorial debut, the gritty crime-thriller A WALK AMONGST THE TOMBSTONES starring Liam Neeson, and is eager for a quick return behind-the-camera. Could Fox have been impressed enough to offer him the job, if Ubisoft okayed a deal they retain strict creative control over? We’ll find out soon with ASSASSINS CREED slated for release 19th June 2015.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
