Michel Gondry, the visionary French director of modern classics ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND, and BE KIND REWIND, has a new movie coming out later in the year. MOOD INDIGO is based on the novel of the same name and has already been screened at various film festivals around the world. The word coming from Australia’s Vendetta Films now is that a shorter version, by around 36 minutes, is set to play everywhere but France when it hits cinemas for the masses.
The reason for the cut is apparently down to the film being re-jigged because early reviews, although positive, complained that a better understanding of the original material was needed.
The new cut is being described as “a VERY different film experience” to the original version.
The plot revolves around a woman who suffers from an unusual illness caused by a flower growing in her lungs.
Romain Duris, Audrey Tautou, Gad Elmaleh and Omar Sy star in the film, which currently has no UK or US release date set. The film opened in France earlier on in the year.
