Most of you should now know that RUSH is Ron Howard’s new film that focuses on the real-life story of Austrian Formula 1 champion driver Niki Lauda (played here by Daniel Bruhl) and the 1976 crash that almost claimed his life. Then just weeks after the accident, he got behind the wheel to challenge his British rival, James Hunt who’s portrayed here by Chris Hemsworth.
F1 is a make or break sport for many but there’s one thing that can’t be denied about it, that the sheer bravery – or madness – that goes into taking it on as a career as you’re quite literally risking your life all the time, even today, is strangely impressive and especially back in the earlier and less safe days of the sport.
