According to reports over at Variety this afternoon, it looks like Warner Brothers are looking to produce another SCOOBY-DOO movie for the big screen. Rather than repeating the critically mauled live-action features from last decade, the WB are looking to bring a new feature-length animated version to screens. The live-action movies generated $450 million for the studio, so it is a no brainer that they want to revisit the property, especially following the success of such films as THE SMURFS and this year’s sequel, which is doing great business,
Matt Lieberman is writing the script for the new movie with Charles Roven and Richard Suckle producing. Roven you may know from his producing success on the Dark Knight movies and this year’s MAN OF STEEL.
Lieberman is the man responsible for a recent update of SHORT CIRCUIT, which is currently in development.
