Gritty First Clip & TV Spots From All-Star Crime Thriller ‘Prisoners’

Hugh Jackman and wife Marie Bello, who, along with their friends Terrence Howard and Viola Davis, face every parents worst nightmare when their children are abducted on the side of the street in Denis Villeneuve’s mystery crime-thriller PRISONERS. The film will be making its premiere next week at the Toronto International Film Festival and sees suspicion fall on a twitchy Paul Dano, leading to Jackman’s working-class father crossing a line of no return in his quest to find the man responsible.

PRISONERS also stars Jake Gyllenhaal as the top detective assigned to the case, yet struggling to pin anything concrete on their prime suspect. In this clip he confronts Dano’s ‘possible’ culprit. We’ve also got the latest television spots.

Keller Dover is facing every parent’s worst nightmare. His 6-year-old daughter and her young friend are missing, and as minutes turn to hours, panic sets in. The only lead is a dilapidated RV that had been parked on their street. Heading the investigation, Detective Loki arrests its driver, but a lack of evidence forces the only suspect’s release. Knowing his child’s life is at stake, the frantic Dover decides he has no choice but to take matters into his own hands. The desperate father will do whatever it takes to find the girls, but in doing so, may lose himself, begging the question: When do you cross the line between seeking justice and becoming a vigilante?

PRISONERS is released in the US 20th September and the UK a week later on the 27th September. One for awards season?

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
