With the relationship between Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. now ended, execs at the studio who co-finaced and released the likes of MAN OF STEEL and PACIFIC RIM are looking at collaborating with Universal Pictures on a number of projects.

One such film Legendary are looking at developing is the re-imagining of DRACULA (formally sub-titled YEAR ZERO), which follows the origin of Prince Vlad of Transylvania, better known as the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s vicious vampire. Luke Evans will play the titular bloodsucker tricked into selling his soul to save his family. Dominic Cooper and Sarah Gadon co-star in the film already in production and set for cinemas 3rd October 2014.

They’re also hoping to get a piece of the dinosaur pie by co-financing JURASSIC PARK 4. The third sequel in the franchise is being directed by Colin Trevorrow, however, Steven Spielberg’s deal means he’ll take a decent chunk of the box-office gross. Having another party chipping in with the budget is something Universal could be interested in despite 2013 being the studios most successful cinematic year ever.

Nothing is signed yet for either deal but talks are said to be underway.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
