Vulture reports that one of the stars from HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER is the front runner for a lead role in Joss Whedon’s AVENGERS.
Cobie Smulders who plays Robin in HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER is reportedly up for the role of Maria Hill, an important S.H.I.E.L.D agent. Joss Whedon and Smulders have previously nearly collaborated before with Whedon’s on his shelved WONDER WOMAN project so she is probably a shoe in if Whedon has his way.
The speculation of the role began from a recent interview with Samuel L Jackson on the Jimmy Kibble Late Show. Jackson stated that he had been involved in a number of readings with various young actresses to find a ‘sidekick’ for Nick Fury. If Smulders does get the role of Maria Hill then she’ll probably be looking, like Jackson and Chris Evans, to be signed up to a multi film contact.
