Dwayne ‘No Longer Credited As The Rock‘ Johnson has released a sneaky new photo of himself (or, rather, his back) with director Brett Ratner on the set of HERCULES: THE THRACIAN WARS. The actor, having previously demonstrated his sword skills in the mediocre-reviewed but cult favourite MUMMY spin-off THE SCORPION KING (I like it, anyone else?), is depicted here looking suitably epic (at least, his back is) wearing the head of a lion.
The film is based on Steve Moore’s (no relation to Alan) graphic novel of the same name and follows the story of legendary demigod Hercules who, having become a mercenary, is given the task of protecting Thrace’s ruler and his daughter by defeating a bloodthirsty enemy warlord. Doubtless he realises on his quest that being a true hero means more than just getting paid.
HERCULES is a Paramount and MGM production and co-stars Ian McShane, Rufus Sewell, Joseph Fiennes, Peter Mullan, John Hurt, Rebecca Ferguson, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Aksel Hennie, Reece Ritchie and Tobias Santelmann. The film will heroically charge into cinemas on 25th July 2014.
