With impeccable timing, following the recently-released and brilliantly-reviewed RUSH (read our review here), Paul Crowder’s independent Formula 1 documentary 1 THE MOVIE will be released next month. Using archive material and interviews to paint the complete picture of the sport, the film focuses on the golden age of F1, the late 1960s, when it was at its most dangerous. Risk was significantly heightened in these years due to the increase in car speed that resulted from the doubling of engine size and addition of wings to the body of the car. With the introduction of sponsorship and television, more money was being put into Formula One than ever before, birthing drivers like RUSH’s James Hunt, whose legendary status made them superstars.
1 THE MOVIE is narrated by Michael Fassbender and will be available on VOD from 11th October.
Also go and see RUSH, it’s seriously incredible.
