We’ve been waiting a while for more news about Benedict Cumberbatch’s Alan Turing tragic biopic THE IMITATION GAME. All we’ve previously known is that Cumberbatch will take the iconic lead role in the film being directed by HEADHUNTERS’ Morten Tyldum from a script from first-time screenwriter Graham Moore.

Centring on one of Britain’s greatest ever heroes after playing a pivotal role in the creation of computer science and breaking the German Enigma Code during World War II. In-turn saving countless lives and effectively ending the war. However, his later life was filled with tragedy after cruelly being prosecuted for being a practising homosexual and taking the unthinkable option of being chemically castrated, Turing ended his own life with an apple laced with cyanide.

The supporting cast has now been assembled with a host of excellent British talent leading the charge. THE IMITATION GAME will co-star Matthew Goode, Mark Strong, Rory Kinnear and Keira Knightley. We’re also hearing via the films official Twitter account that composer Clint Mansell will be providing the score for the film.

We expect this to feature strongly during award season in 2015!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
