Menacing New Viral Video & Banners For Spike Lee’s ‘Oldboy’

However you feel about remakes, they’re always going to be necessity in introducing classic (or even crap) pictures to a whole generation of film fans. While South Korean masterpiece OLDBOY may have only been adapted by Chan-wook Park from the acclaimed manga graphic novel only 10 years ago, Hollywood now feels it’s right to bring their own ruthless vision. Acclaimed filmmaker Spike Lee is at the helm of this latest English-language version of an international smash, but will it top (or even match) the bleak, controversial ending of the original? We’ll find out in the coming months!

OLDBOY follows the story of an advertising executive (Josh Brolin) who is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement without any indication of his captor’s motive. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment. His quest for revenge leads him into an ill-fated relationship with a young social worker (Elizabeth Olsen) and ultimately to an illusive man (Sharlto Copley) who allegedly holds the key to his salvation.

Meanwhile, check out this mysterious new viral video, banner and promo posters.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
