Well it seems as if Marvel and DC are going to television war if Deadline are to be believed. DC Comics already has the highly successful ARROW and potential THE FLASH series in development, whilst Marvel has the upcoming AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D and now it looks like Hayley Atwell’s Agent Carter is set to get her own television series too.
Marvel’s AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D premieres in the US next week and looks very promising, but Deadline has word that Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter may well be the next in line for her own TV series on ABC. Although it is noted by Deadline that it’s uncertain if Atwell would return to reprise her role in the potential series, it would seem like a strange move to recast after the upcoming AGENT CARTER one shot.
Having said that Marvel are infamous for recasting certain roles such as Mark Ruffalo replacing Edward Norton and Don Cheadle replacing Terrence Howard. Hayley Atwell recently reprised her role as Peggy Carter from CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER in the Marvel one shot AGENT CARTER and will also appear in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER. The one shot can be found on the IRON MAN 3 Blu ray after Marvel has found recent success from short mini-movies being added to their Blu rays.
Marvel are notoriously secretive about their development slate so it’s unlikely they will confirm anything official any time soon is this does prove to be true, however it is very possible if AGENT CARTER is as much of a success as their last one shot ITEM 47 which can be found on THE AVENGERS Blu ray.
