The 51st New York Film festival is now less than a week away and will be spreading across Manhattan this coming Friday. The streets will be packed, the blurs of yellow cabs will be speed noisily past, the residents will be stereo-typically agitated and everything will be pretty much as usual in the Big Apple.
Since 1963 the event has been a staple of both American and global film culture, the entries are selected by the Film Society Of Lincoln Center, an organisation that has always aimed to provide exposure for independent film and world cinema in the states. North America’s second oldest film festival will include seventeen days of world premiers, award-winners from Cannes, Berlin and Venice as well as retrospective screenings, panels and galas! It’s a non-competitive festival so everyone’s a winner! Or a loser depending on how you look at it!
