A powerful, hard-hitting trailer has arrived for writer/director Laurie Collyer’s new drama SUNLIGHT JR which is led by Naomi Watts and Matt Dillon. Collyer’s debut feature film was the acclaimed drama SHERRYBABY starring Maggie Gyllenhaal as a recently-released former alcoholic mother trying to battle in her sobriety, while attempting to get back into her baby daughters life. Alcoholism is another strong theme in this effort too which will be available On Demand in the US on 7th October and limited theaters on 15th November. No word yet on a UK date.
Sunlight Jr. spotlights hard-working convenience store clerk Melissa (Naomi Watts) and her disabled boyfriend, Richie (Matt Dillon), who are trapped in a generational cycle of poverty. Their luck may be changing when they learn that Melissa has become pregnant. But as soon as she loses her job and they get evicted from the motel they live in, their joy vanishes. Through this adversity, the couple realizes that they can never lose everything as long as they have each other. Norman Reedus (“The Walking Dead”) and Tess Harper co-star.
