They’re Here! ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ Dolls Have Arrived

As a child I wasn’t really a fan of Barbie, but the 20 year-old me loves a bit of THE HUNGER GAMES action. With only a month until the film’s release, Mattel have posted the photos for their upcoming CATCHING FIRE figures, including Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) and Effie Trinket (Elizabeth Banks).

Over the last few years I’ve seen some pretty dodgy looking merchandise, particularly dolls, which manufacturers seem to have trouble morphing into the film’s stars. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that these figures actually look like the characters. The attention to detail is fantastic, even down to the types of material the costumes are made of.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE, directed by Francis Lawrence, hits UK cinemas from 21st November, with the US getting the film on the 22nd. Lawrence, Hutcherson and Banks co-star alongside Liam Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Donald Sutherland and Lenny Kravitz.

The dolls will ‘premiere’ at New York Comic-Con. You can check out an Entertainment Weekly Mattel video here and pre-order your favourite figurine here.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
