Some of the first images have hit the net of sandals and sorcery epic, IMMORTALS. The upcoming tale stars the future Superman, Henry Cavill/Theseus, Mickey Rouke/King Hyperion , John Hurt (of course)/Zeus, Stephen Droff/Stravos and a bunch of others. Here’s the synopsis;
Eons after the Gods won their mythic struggle against the Titans, a new evil threatens the land. Mad with power, King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) has declared war against humanity. Amassing a bloodthirsty army of soldiers disfigured by his own hand, Hyperion has scorched Greece in search of the legendary Epirus Bow, a weapon of unimaginable power forged in the heavens by Ares. Only he who possesses this bow can unleash the Titans, who have been imprisoned deep within the walls of Mount Tartaros since the dawn of time and thirst for revenge. In the king’s hands, the bow would rain destruction upon mankind and annihilate the Gods. But ancient law dictates the Gods must not intervene in man’s conflict. They remain powerless to stop Hyperion…until a peasant named Theseus (Henry Cavill) comes forth as their only hope. Secretly chosen by Zeus, Theseus must save his people from Hyperion and his hordes
Directed by Tarsem Singh (THE FALL, THE CELL), IMMORTALS has all the hallmarks of fifties and seventies mythical based films, like CONAN, and should be visually grand. The director has been very hit and miss I think with THE FALL being a great film but THE CELL was shockingly bad so we’ll have to wait and see but I’m sure it we be better than CLASH OF THE TITANS.
IMMORTALS comes out 11 November 2011 and here are the pics.
Paul finished is BA in Film & Broadcast Productions during the summer and has somehow landed the position of Media & Marketing Manager in the London Korean Film Festival happening this November (plug).
While at University Paul found his speciality lay in Script Development, scriptwriting and Editing. He has written, edited and director a small number of not very good short films but does not let that dissuade him from powering through. After the Koreans are through with him he looks to enter the paid world of Script Development.
He likes incredibly bad horror films, East Asian movies, comics and lots of other stuff.
