With deals currently on the table for Colin Farrell and Paula Patton to feature in Legendary Pictures’ big-screen adaptation of the epic online role-playing game WARCRAFT, we have news of another set to join the cast. It appears Vikings’ 34 year-old rising actor Travis Fimmel has beaten off stiff competition from Paul Dano (PRISONERS), Anton Yelchin (STAR TREK) and Anson Mount (Hell On Wheels) to land one of the main leads.

THN caught an awesome and intense teaser trailer earlier this year at San Diego Comic Con, introduced by SOURCE CODE and MOON director Duncan Jones. He is the man tasked with realising Blizzard Entertainment’s medieval and creature-filled video game, which has been written by BLOOD DIAMOND’s Charles Leavitt.

Production on the film is set to begin in January for release set for 18th December 2015. No plot details have yet been released.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
