It’s always great to see director Joe Dante back behind the camera. THE HOWLING and GREMLINS genre veteran’s next project and first since 2007s underrated 3D kids horror THE HOLE, will be a feature-length version of the short film BURYING THE EX. Dante’s lined up the FRIGHT NIGHT remake’s Anton Yelchin for the male lead with TWILIGHT stunner Ashley Greene as the unlucky needy girlfriend who refuses to allow him to move on… even when she’s passed away. TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D beauty Alexandra Daddario will play his new lover. Rising newcomer Oliver Cooper will also feature.

BURYING THE EX follows Max (Yelchin) and Evelyn (Greene) as their relationship takes a nose dive once they move in together. Max discovers how controlling and manipulative Evelyn is but he’s too scared to break up with her. When fate steps in and Evelyn dies in a freak accident, newly-single Max prepares to move on with Olivia (Daddario). His romantic life becomes complicated when Evelyn rises from the grave and sets out to get her boyfriend back, even if that means turning him into one of the undead.

Shooting on the haunted comic horror will begin in Los Angeles before the end of the month. Alan Trezza will adapt from the short he wrote and directed.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
