Simon Pegg Confirms ‘Mission: Impossible 5’ Return

Simon Pegg to star in 'Man Up' alongside Lake Bell

2015 is shaping up to be huge for franchise films, with sequels due for everything from STAR WARS to JURASSIC PARK to MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE. The latter’s fifth instalment was recently given a concrete release date of Christmas Day 2015, and now its cast is starting to take shape.

Tom Cruise signed on back in May – it wouldn’t be a MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE film without him – and, while promoting the Blu-ray release of his latest film THE WORLD’S END, Simon Pegg told MTV that he’ll be returning to the role of Benji Dunn:

‘Absolutely. I’m looking forward to that. I’ve already started eating one carrot a day in order to be in shape.’

Pegg’s character Dunn first made an appearance in the J.J. Abrams-directed MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III, with his role extended further for 2011’s MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL.

Christopher McQuarrie is set to direct MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 5 from a script by IRON MAN 3 writer Drew Pearce. It’s due for release on 25th December, 2015.
