Trailer For Kevin Smith’s Walrus Horror ‘Tusk’ To Premiere At Sundance

Kevin Smith’s upcoming odd-ball horror film TUSK is nearing completion. Unfortunately, not in time for the Sundance Film Festival 2014. Instead festival-goers will be treated to a midnight screening of the first trailer.

According to Smith’s blog, TUSK’s filming and editing is mainly wrapped up – apart from a few extra scenes featuring a mystery actor who isn’t available till December or January.

TUSK is based on an episode of SModcast, Smith and friend Scott Mosier’s podcast show. The story about a podcaster who disappears in the woods, is inspired by a Gumtree ad offering free rent to a tenant providing  they constantly wear a homemade walrus costume (if that doesn’t sound like the beginning of  a horror film I don’t know what does). It will star Genesis Rodriguez, Haley Joel Osment, Justin Long and Michael Parks.

Smith has given us a sneak glimpse of a poster showing the main characters of TUSK in cartoon form advertising their own podcast in the film. How very postmodern.

Claire Joanne Huxham comes from the south-west, where the cider flows free and the air smells of manure. She teaches A-level English by day and fights crime by night. When not doing either of these things she can usually be found polishing her Star Trek DVD boxsets. And when she can actually be bothered she writes fiction and poetry that pops up on the web and in print. Her favourite film in the whole world, ever, is BLADE RUNNER.
