It’s finally happening. After months of speculation and Warner Bros. spending more time taking images off the web rather than promoting their film, we will have a trailer for GODZILLA. The trailer, which will be shown in cinemas along with THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG, will arrive online on Tuesday (tomorrow) 10th December. It will hit the web at 10 AM Pacific Standard Time, which means it will go online in the UK at 6 PM. Now that’s exciting!
Directed by Gareth Edwards of MONSTERS fame, GODZILLA sees another attempt to adapt the Japanese monster for Western audiences. Hopefully it will be somewhat more successful that Roland Emmerich’s 1998 take, which didn’t feel like a Godzilla movie in the slightest. We’ve been counting down the weeks with one Godzilla film a week in our THN Godzilla Countdown.
A new viral site has also come to life over at MutoResearch.net, suggesting the involvement of a government agency. This also hints that perhaps ‘Muto’ is a generic term for monsters, rather than being the specific name of 8-legged monster purported to be appearing in the film. We’ll bring you coverage of the trailer tomorrow, but until then, join us in a Godzilla highland fling.
GODZILLA will be released 16th May 2014. It stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, Ken Watanabe, Bryan Cranston, Sally Hawkins, Akira Takarada, and David Strathairn.
