Watch: Collaborative Elle Fanning Short To Screen On Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s ‘HitRECord on TV’

As THN previously reported, Joseph-Gordon Levitt’s ‘HitRecord On TV‘’ variety show is set to debut at the Sundance Film Festival and today we’ve got a little early teaser of some of the great collaborative collections that’ll come our way.

I wanted to share this little piece called ‘First Stars I See Tonight‘ as it’s a beautiful piece of work, put together from people across the world and – more exciting stuff – the first episode will actually now be available for free online from January 6th but before we get there, scroll down for the video below but also here’s how it came together, in the words of JGL:

Collaboratively made on our site, hitRECord.org, this short film began with a text record roswellgray (United States) contributed recounting the true story of the first time she ever saw the stars when she was 16 years old. I adapted the story into a script and KatSmash (Scotland) RECorded narration. We shot the actors Elle Fanning and James Patrick Stuart in front of a green screen and a ton of visual artists on the site began to illustrate the world around them. The animator 12.42 (United Kingdom) took visual contributions and animated them all together. megancarnes (United States) composed a beautiful musical score and musicians from all over the world played along.

Check it out:

After that first outing at Sundance, the show will official air in the USA on Pivot from January 18th.

Gorgeous piece of storytelling, animation, music, and performance–collaborative art at its finest. Kudos to hitRECord and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I’m very much looking forward to this show!
