Dane DeHaan is undoubtedly a great up and coming rising star and now has an EE BAFTA Rising Star nomination to prove it. After tremendous performances in CHRONICLE, THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES and LAWLESS, he’s in the mainstream next as Harry Osborn in the upcoming THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2.
After some initial worry about the timing of this sequel, and the need for new Spidey so soon after the old ones, the recent trailer and images look set for an epic battle that will hopefully put to rest the memory of SPIDER-MAN 3 and set Andrew Garfield in the mind forever as the iconic Spider-Man.
In the meantime, Dane DeHaan has been talking about his character arc in the film and give us a little insight over what to expect from him and his character’s development, I’m genuinely looking forward to this!
“When you first meet Harry he’s just graduated from high school, and he has to come back to New York to help deal with Oscorp, and its legacy, and his father (Norman Osborn – Chris Cooper). He also sees Peter Parker for the first time in a long time; they were childhood friends. So it’s really about Harry having a friendship with Peter and an allegiance to Peter, but also being the heir apparent to Oscorp, and having to deal with that.
“It’s becoming very obvious that all of these villains are originating from within Oscorp, in one way or the other. There are things that Harry feels he owes Peter, and things he needs from Peter, there are things he feels he needs from Spider-Man, and then there’s his responsibility to Oscorp. It’s a very complicated storyline, really cool and dynamic.”
