Ones To Watch: Girls Season Three

girls-season-3

Hannah and the gang return with more awkward hijinks as GIRLS comes back to our screens with its third season.

When we left the gang in the season two, everything (to put it bluntly) was going down the crapper. But as we come back to the new series everything seems to be going right – Hannah (Lena Dunham) takes a backseat as she gets over her traumatic episode in season two’s finale, and Adam (Adam Driver) is helping her back on track, keeping her healthy and encouraging her with his odd but wonderful ways. Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) has taken on a new lease of life “the beginning of a somewhat sexually adventurous time for me” as she describes, and Marnie (Allison Williams) is allllllmost over Charlie. almost.

But the most surprising thing about the GIRLS season three opener is the fact that it is focused on Jessa (Jemima Kirke). We all know she left Hannah in season two, but we now find her in a rehab facility, causing havoc in a true Jessa fashion. The first two episodes of GIRLS definitely belong to Kirke, her unapologetic and abrupt behaviour is all reason to remember why we missed Jessa in the first place. Also keep a look out for guest appearances from Richard E. Grant and ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK’s Danielle Brooks.

It is still the GIRLS we all know and love – filth, fun and fitting to the 20 somethings trying to deal with life – but it all seems just a little more mature…how scary!

GIRLS season three returns tonight at 10pm on Sky Atlantic.
