Director Marc Webb is drumming up some more fanfare for his forthcoming THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, saying it’s going to be “epic”. He’s revealed the new movie in the franchise will up the stakes even more.
“It’s huge. We’re pushing the levels of effects, the level of action and the emotional capacity of this kid. It’s an aggressive step forward.”
Filming has now finished for the sequel and it’s set to open in cinemas in April. The story places Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) against Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Rhino (Paul Giamatti). It’s the big screen debut for these characters. It also stars Emma Stone and Dane DeHaan.
It looks like audiences are going to be in for an exciting ride according to Webb. He added how the terms “operatic” and “spectacle” are being thrown around, saying:
“There are enormous sets and great set-pieces. But really it’s a very intimate song – this relationship between Peter and Gwen is very delicate and beautiful.”
THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 opens in 3D, 2D and IMAX 3D on May 2 (US) and April 18 (UK).
