Evangeline Lilly In Talks For ‘Ant-Man’

Things are certainly heating up for Marvel Studios’ ANT-MAN with the recent casting announcements of Paul Rudd (THIS IS 40) and Michael Douglas (WALL STREET). After these unusual and pleasantly surprising additions to the cast of Edgar Wright’s (SHAUN OF THE DEAD) upcoming film, now comes a slightly more traditional casting rumour.

Evangeline Lilly has reportedly entered early negotiations to join the cast of ANT-MAN as the love interest of Rudd’s character Scott Lang. There are no details on who exactly Lilly would play, however rumours are pointing to her playing the daughter of Douglas’ Henry Pym AKA the original Ant-Man and creator of the shrinking/enlarging technology that gives the character his powers. Marvel fans will be quick to point out that Pym didn’t have a daughter in the original comics but this wouldn’t be the first time changes have been made for a film adaptation (cough cough…The Mandarin). It’s also entirely possible that Janet Van Dyne (Wasp), the characters love interest in the comics is being retrofitted as the daughter of Pym for Wright’s film. With Ant-Man being such an obscure character to the general public, I can’t see this change being a major detractor to anyone interested in the upcoming film.

Lilly was most recently seen in last years THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG and will return for its sequel this Christmas. Meanwhile check back with the Hollywood News for more updates on ANT-MAN.
