Agent Coulson Returning For ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’?

Clark Gregg’s Agent Phil Coulson has arguably been as influential to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Robert Downey Jr’s Tony Stark/Iron Man. The character originally appeared in 2008’s IRON MAN before returning for IRON MAN 2, THOR and Joss Whedon’s THE AVENGERS. As you may be aware, Coulson was killed in THE AVENGERS at the hands of Tom Hiddleston’s Loki in a heartbreaking and pivotal scene. At this point fans knew that Marvel couldn’t be finished with such a beloved and important character, and as a result he was resurrected for televisions AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D which is currently mid-way through its first season.

Now the question on everyone’s lips’ is whether or not Gregg’s Coulson will make a return to the big screen in future Marvel adventures after proving so important to their ‘Phase one’ set of films. After all, shouldn’t the Avengers discover that Coulson’s demise was merely orchestrated in order to ‘motivate’ them?. Well now Gregg has been asked if he will be reprising his role in Joss Whedon’s sequel AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, and his response is very intriguing. You can read the interview segment below:

Can you say if you as Coulson are in AVENGERS 2?

GREGG: [smiles] I can’t say. I’m not allowed to say anything – I can neither confirm nor deny. But I am very busy here.

It definitely seems as if the actor knows something otherwise he would have outright denied any involvement with the film. Either way we will find out sooner or later with filming set to begin in the coming weeks, although I think it’s safe to say that his return would be a welcome one.
