Kate Beckinsale is taking off her skin-tight leather catsuit and strapping on her comedic clown trousers for upcoming feature ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING. She’ll star alongside Simon Pegg, Robin Williams, Sanjeev Bhaska, Eddie Izzard, Joanna Lumley and the Monty Python Gang, all directed by Terry Jones.
The film tells the story of a deluded school teacher who discovers that he has special powers allowing him to do anything he wants. They’re bestowed to him by a gang of bizarre aliens who’ll be voiced by the Python Crew. As he goes about his new life he enlists the help of his dog (Robin Williams) whom, obviously, he can now hear. After a series of unfortunate debacles he’s left with the ultimate choice about whether to keep his powers or get the girl (Beckinsale).
Producer Ben Timlett had this to say about the casting:
“We are over the moon to welcome Kate Beckinsale to our brilliant cast. She’s perfect in the role of Catherine and joins some of the best names in comedy. Terry Jones and Gavin Scotts’ script is laugh out loud and we look forward to bringing it to a worldwide audience.”
It’s certainly overflowing with comedic talent and while we don’t want to jinx it, we’re certainly excited here. How about you?
