Released this coming Friday, THE STAG sees John Butler make his directorial debut…and what better way to start than with a cracking British comedy!
When one shy groom opts out of a boozy Stag Do, his best man decides that a quiet walking-weekend would better calm his nerves. However, when the bride’s manly brother tags along all hell breaks loose! Have a read of the official synopsis below:
Self-confessed metrosexual Fionan (Hugh O’Conor) doesn’t want a Stag Do, but would happily attend the Hen. His concerned bride-to-be Ruth (Amy Huberman) persuades the marginally more macho best man Davin (Andrew Scott) to organise one. Reluctantly he agrees, while doing everything he can to stop Ruth’s infamously alpha male brother, known only as ‘The Machine’ (Peter McDonald), gatecrashing their sober, walking-weekend, excuse for a Stag Party. Not so easily foxed, ‘The Machine’ tracks them down, sparking to life a wild few days in rural Ireland where the Stags find themselves lost, shot at, stoned and butt-naked. THE STAG is a hilarious and heart-warming journey of friendship, fear, male bonding, and tightly fashioned squirrel skin!
Co-starring Brian Gleeson, Michael Legge, Andrew Bennett, Marcella Plunkett, Justine Mitchell, Amy De Bhrun and Amy Stephenson, this is one very British production indeed (which is always good to see). Watch the clips and let us know what you think (the electric fence scene is hilarious!).
THE STAG, directed by John Butler, will receive a general UK release from this Friday (14th March).
Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging.
Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
