I know PROMETHEUS had its flaws – stop shouting at the back – but I really enjoyed it as a Sci-fi exploration of the unknown and a fresh look at the Ridley Scott and Giger’s ALIEN mythology.
Something that saved it was not only the expansive and desolate Alien-world we found ourselves stuck on but also the performances of Noomi Rapace and, yes, Michael Fassbender. With those two surviving (in some form) the rampage of death and self-destruction at the end of the film, they flew off to find the answers…to the answers…of the continual questions: Where did we come from and why were we abandoned?
The new writer on-board is Michael Green, who’s written the likes of Heroes, Smallville and is currently working on the screenplay for THE FLASH. He’s taking on the original script by TRANSCENDENCE scribe Jack Paglen and will reportedly re-work it with Ridley Scott – who Green is also writing the new and untitled BLADE RUNNER project.
Obviously, the working title is currently PROMETHEUS 2 but PARADISE could well rear its head again. The other rumours are that the sequel will take on more of an ALIEN edge again, and this would explain that homage shot at the end of the first film. If I’m honest, I don’t know where they’ll go with this yet but if they can come up with another sprawling epic then I’ll be waiting in March 2016.
Rapace returns for the sequel and we might also have multiple Fassbender’s, so a whole host of David’s roaming around being suspicious but intelligent – I like it…and maybe a sample snatched of some of this?
