In a recent interview Bryan Singer (director of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST) has cleared up some of the vague and uncertain details surrounding the character Scarlet Witch.

During an interview, Singer mentioned that Scarlet Witch would not be making an appearance in the X-Men film. The photo above has caused a lot of controversy and has led fans to speculate who Quicksilver (Evan Peters) is sitting beside. However, Singer ensured that she is not Scarlet Witch, just simply Quicksilver’s younger sister. The questions began to arise after Joss Whedon confirmed that he had finished THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON script. Whedon teased audiences about a ‘brother and sister’ and quickly confirmed that the film would include Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.

Only a few weeks later, Singer also confirmed that Quicksilver would be included in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST, hence the rumours and gossip around Scarlet Witch. With 20th Century Fox owning the rights to all mutants from Marvel Comics, fans have begun to question why Scarlet Witch hasn’t been included in both films. It was originally proposed that Scarlet Witch would be mentioned within the film, however Singer has said that he had to make some cuts, and so the reference to Scarlet Witch was removed.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST is due to hit cinemas this summer and judging by the awesome posters and gripping trailers, it’s going to be a film you will have to go and see.
