Johnny Knoxville is set to star in a new comedy from Universal Pictures. The Jackass star is attached to play the lead in the new comedy SICK DAY, with Jeremy Garelick set to direct.

The film is said to be a modern-day FERRIS BUELLER’S DAY OFF. Knoxville will play one of three thirty something friends, who uphold a tradition of calling in sick one day a year to fulfil fantasies while not getting caught. It is not yet known who will star alongside Knoxville, who recently was cast as the voice of Leonardo in Michael Bay’s reboot of TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES.

Knoxville has made several attempts at narrative comedy, but his best onscreen work has to be the JACKASS franchise. No stranger to danger, Knoxville first appeared in a shocking home video which saw him pepper spray his eyes, tazer his bare chest and even attempt being shot with a handgun while wearing a cheap bulletproof vest.
