‘Homeland’ and ‘The West Wing’ Stars Join Paul Feig’s ‘Spy’

Allison Janney

The cast list for Paul Feig’s new comedy SPY is now packed to the rafters with quality names. Following news that the UK’s very own Miranda Hart will be playing opposite regular Feig collaborator Melissa McCarthy (BRIDESMAIDS, THE HEAT), Allison Janney and Morena Baccarin have now signed up for the knockabout, semi-improvised fun.

If you don’t recognize Janney’s name you will certainly know her face. Best known as White House Press Secretary CJ in The West Wing, she has also appeared in such diverse fare as AMERICAN BEAUTY, THE WAY WAY BACK and JUNO. Currently appearing in sitcom Mom, the actress will give a major boost to her comic credentials playing acerbic CIA agent Elaine Crocker. Baccarin will be familiar to millions from her numerous scenes squinting at co-star Damian Lewis in Homeland. She will take the role of the enigmatically-named “Karen Walker”.

The rest of the action will be populated by Jude Law, Rose Byrne, Jason Statham, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and the multi-talented Peter Serafinowicz (GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY). Feig certainly isn’t doing this one by halves and his knack for physical comedy combined with a passion for strong female characters should make SPY stand out from the crowd.

Currently shooting in Budapest, the movie is scheduled for release in 2015.
