Since September 2013 we have reported on three projects that Robert Zemeckis has been linked to, those being CHAOS WALKING, MARWENCOL, and THE MIRACULOUS JOURNEY OF EDWARD TURLANE. Well it looks as though none of those will be arriving soon, as Zemeckis’ next project will be TO REACH THE CLOUDS, reportedly starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt. TO REACH THE CLOUDS has received a release date of 2nd October 2015 and has added Ben Kingsley to the cast.
TO REACH THE CLOUDS will recount the tale of high wire walker Philippe Petit (Levitt), as he sets about walking across a wire placed between the World Trade Centre Twin Towers in 1974. The feat has already been explored in the documentary MAN ON WIRE. Zemeckis made a triumphant return to the world of live action films with 2012’s FLIGHT, after have spent 8 tears working on animated motion-capture features. I’m not sure how interested I’ll be in the film, considering the documentary was fantastic enough, but hopefully Zemeckis can add a strong enough story to justify a narrative piece.
