There is a huge buzz about director Alfonso Cuaron at the moment, and rightly so. As we recently reported, the Oscar winning director “is in deep talks” to direct J.K. Rowling’s FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM.
This latest news will appeal to all horror fans as there are rumours that he is in talks to direct a prequel to Stephen King’s classic horror novel THE SHINING. The are no plot details yet but the prequel has been aptly named THE OVERLOOK HOTEL.
According to reports, Warner Bros have offered the director excluse rights over whether he will accept the project. Writer Glen Mazzara from THE WALKING DEAD is in talks to write the script but at this point there are no definite deals made.
I am a massive fan of the novel and the sequel DOCTOR SLEEP which delved into the history of the Overlook. Whether they will include anything from the novel is unclear but Cuaron is a fantastic choice to direct such a film.
As always, we will update you with more news as it comes in.
