Quentin Tarantino Teases A Four Hour Cut Of ‘Django Unchained’

Django

Quentin Tarantino is always teasing lengthier cuts of his movies. Remember when he promised a longer version of KILL BILL with the two movies mashed together? Well, now he’s been quoted by USA Today saying that he’d really quite like to throw an extra 90 minutes of footage at DJANGO UNCHAINED, and make it into a TV mini-series. Yep.

“I have about 90 minutes worth of material with Django. It hasn’t been seen. My idea, frankly, is to cut together a four-hour version of Django Unchained… But I wouldn’t show it like a four-hour movie. I would cut it up into hour chapters. Like a four-part miniseries. And show it on cable television. Show it like an hour at a time, each chapter. We’d use all the material I have and it wouldn’t be an endurance test. It would be a mini-series. And people love those.”

DJANGO UNCHAINED, for me, was bordering on too long as it was, but that’s not to say that I thought that it was a bad movie. Actually, I really liked it, but I’m not sure extra footage and spacing it out into four TV show episodes is a good idea. What I’d really like to see is Tarantino tackle the world of TV head on. What about that much-mooted Vega Brothers movie? Why not tackle that on the small screen. Or a completely original project?

Your thoughts are welcome.
