Jacks back! It’s hard to believe I know, but it has been a whole four years since we watched Jack, now a wanted man, bid Chloe farewell and disappear from our TV screens. You can’t keep a good man down though and everyone’s favourite rogue agent has this time set-up camp on British soil. Though not quite 24 this time around, with only twelve episodes, 24: Live Another Day promises to be crammed full of just as much action. THN will be here every step of the way in our new episode-by-episode Bauer Blog.
First things first, THN were spot on with Navarros co-conspirator being Adrien. We saw the pair sharing another secret conversation as Navarro was told that Jordan hasn’t stopped sniffing around the Morgan case like ordered. Navarro asked for a cleaner to be brought in, but Adrien advised that wouldn’t be safe and offered an alternative, get Jordan out of the office and have him ‘cleaned’ there. Agent Reed is pretty tough for a computer nerd, as he not only survived a gunshot to the shoulder, but also a swim in Camden canal.
Heller and Davis had a mini face-off, Heller was furious that Davis had gone behind his back and sent MI5 after Jack. The PM then counted that he knew about Heller’s health issues. Heller put on a brave front with the PM telling him that, were his health affecting him, he would step down. The pair then came to an uneasy truce with regards to helping Jack. As soon as Davis left, Heller decided that it might be time to put the Presidency behind him, asking that meetings with the VP be set up when they get home.
Michelle Fairley is playing a blinder as Margot Al Harazi. At the start of the series she was beloved to many of us as the tough-but-warm matriarch of the Stark clan, and we couldn’t imagine her being a bad mother. Boy where we wrong though. Margot is a determined lady, obsessed with revenge against those who have wronged her cause. Today she proved that even daughter Simone wasn’t above her wrath, and after hearing that Simone had tried to save her niece and sister-in-law, Margot thought the best way to deal with the situation was to blow-up her daughter with a drone missile. Pretty harsh, though Catelyn Stark did let Sansa be betrothed to Prince Joffrey so maybe Margot isn’t really that bad.
Jack and Kate and Chloe are now a team with Kate and Jack heading to Simone’s hospital on Chloe’s intel. Poor Chloe has to relocate though with the police onto her squat, where did she go? The pub of course. Whilst at the hospital Kate went to speak to Simone’s niece in a scene that was almost a direct rip off of a scene from ALIENS just with ginger beer instead of hot chocolate. The niece is not at all ready to forgive her auntie telling Kate she hopes she dies. Credit due to the hospital staff who evacuated in less than eight minutes.
Poor Simone, the life of a terrorist never does run smoothly. Lets have a recap of her day, first she woke up in a drug den as she played monitor to her mum’s drone programmer. She then killed him in the pub before traversing the tube with Jack Bauer in pursuit. Finally she made it home to discover her hubby was on the brink of desertion; she tried using her feminine whiles to get him back on board but he still resisted. Simone then found herself a finger down as her mother tried to coherce Navid in a more brutal manner. It didn’t work as she had to watch him executed. Her troubles weren’t over yet though as she was sent to silence her sister-in-law and niece, at which point she found herself squashed by a bus. She’s now woken to find herself in Jacks custody with her mother chasing her with a drone.
Mark obviously isn’t as clever as he thought with the Russians having twigged his forgery of Hellers signature. The Russians now have him exactly where they want him though as they can now blackmail him into submission.
Whilst we’re talking about Heller, he’s decided to meet with Margot – though he wants to run something past Jack and something tells me he has something up his sleeve. Jack’s obedience to the President means that Simone will have to wait for that urgent medical treatment she needs.
Each week the action seems to be getting bigger and bigger, with this weeks missile chase causing carnage all over London. My best guess for next time is that Heller will agree to give himself to Margot, but will take Jack along as back-up, giving the two men some more screen time together.
CIA Blunder: Surely if you were Jordan, a computer expert who had been in the middle of searching through computer data for traces of the Al-Harazis, you’d be a little confused as to why you were being sent on a top-secret field mission.
Badass Bauer Moment: Jack was not happy with MI5, especially that they had arrested his friend. Jack was not scared of them as he strolled over to his captive friend, cut him loose and simply told MI5 ‘he’s with me’.
‘Damnit!’ Counter: Four! Only three were from Jack, but still four! After the last few weeks of none it was a joyous occasion when Jack uttered his immortal words again. After the first they came pretty much one after another as Jack, Kate and Simone, escaped St.Edwards.
