Anna Kendrick, star of PITCH PERFECT and DRINKING BUDDIES, is set to lend her voice to musical TROLLS, produced under the DreamWorks banner.
Mike Mitchell, who directed SHREK FOREVER AFTER and ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: CHIPWRECKED, is set to take the helm on this one, with THN guessing that this feature will also be an animation (or maybe part live-action?). Kendrick will ‘star’ as Princess Poppy, a vibrant and bubbly character who will lead the story, with the narrative focusing on how the famous Troll dolls gained their colourful tufts of hair.
Mitchell has commented on the casting news, saying:
“Anna has proven herself to be a brilliant actress with an amazing singing voice. She’ll inject Poppy with the exact mix of spirit, sass and song that will no doubt give a whole new life to the iconic Troll dolls.”
Were you a fan of the toys? Are you looking forward to the film? Who would you like to see join the cast alongside Kendrick?

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
