BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE has so far been (arguably) the most controversial superhero flick of all time, and we are still two years away from even seeing the finished product. Cameras are currently rolling in Michigan with Zack Snyder once again behind the lens for the ultimate comic book team up.
Although the idea of Batman AND Superman in one film is an incredibly tantalizing idea, eyebrows have been raised ever since Ben Affleck was cast as the famous caped crusader. Fans became even more dubious when it was announced that the film was no longer a MAN OF STEEL sequel, but rather a JUSTICE LEAGUE prequel that includes Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa). On top of that Warner Bros threw us another curve ball with the casting of Jesse Eisenberg (ZOMBIELAND, THE SOCIAL NETWORK) as Superman’s arch nemesis Lex Luthor. After the role was previously played by Gene Hackman, Michael Rosenbaum and Kevin Spacey, fans were expecting a much older (and less hairy) actor to fill the role. Now we have some new details on what Snyder and Eisenberg have in store for viewers when they lay their eyes on a modernized iteration of one of the most famous comic villains in history. You can read them below! but be warned…this Lex wont be as follicley challenged as some fans might like.
LexCorp scenes were filmed over the past two days and a source tells Batman News that Eisenberg has “a lot of hair”. It’s not Eisenberg’s typical curly look — it’s a bit longer, kind of loose and wavy, and it’s dirty blonde. Eisenberg’s Luthor has spastic mannerisms, like a 20-something guy that pounds energy drinks all day. I’m told that the scenes shot take place towards the beginning of the movie… so maybe there’s still a chance that Lex Luthor could show up bald by the end? We’ll have to wait and see.
Speaking of LexCorp, we’ve seen a lot of the outside, but I have some info on the inside as well. I’ve been told it’s “f***ing awesome”. There’s a basketball court in the lobby with a giant 30 foot neon LexCorp industries sign.
This definitely sounds like a 21st century take on character that utilities elements of tech-based corporations we have become accustomed to such as Google and Facebook. It seems that Eisenberg’s Luthor will embody the spirit of a modern, self made billionaire hipster in the same vein as Mark Zuckerberg (who Eisenberg portrayed in THE SOCIAL NETWORK). It should be stated now that I am 100% behind this film and have been from the beginning, and this news just makes me even more excited. I’m very confident that BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE will be a fantastic superhero adventure, and also that both Affleck and Eisenberg will blow audiences away.
What do you think? could Eisenberg be the Heath Ledger of Lex Luthors? or are you still skeptical about the film?
