Samantha Shannon is still in her twenties and The Bone Season was her first book. Yet, thanks to her creative and imaginative writing and the world she has created, many reviewers have likened her to Harry Potter author JK Rowling. Not bad for a debut author!
2. The film rights have been bought by Andy Serkis
Serkis’s production company The Imaginarium Studios are working on the film adaptation and are really excited about the ways they can approach those characters requiring some motion capture as well as bringing Shannon’s story to life. If the first one does well, this could become the massive new film franchise in a post HUNGER GAMES world.
3. It’s the start of a series
This is the first book in a series and could well be as huge as HARRY POTTER or THE HUNGER GAMES. There is certainly enough scope! The second book The Mime Order is out in October so there’s not long left for you to catch up with book one!
4. It’s for teens AND adults
The main character is 19-year-old Paige but that doesn’t mean the book is only for teenagers. This clever story certainly has enough complexity and imagination to warrant being read by adults too. It could prove a great discussion topic for families with teenage children!
5. It’s a really good, enjoyable book!
