The folks over at Studiocanal have acquired the rights to the ‘Victor The Assassin’ book series. Written by British novelist Tom Wood, the series currently stands at four books, the first being ‘The Killer’ or ‘The Hunter’ as it was titled in the UK. Victor is an assassin with no surname, no history, and who prefers to live alone and get the job done. The series has become immensely popular and now it looks as though he’ll be heading to the big screen.
Pierre Morel, who has flexed his action muscles with DISTRICT 13, TAKEN, and FROM PARIS WITH LOVE, as well as the upcoming THE GUNMAN, will helm the first installment of the series. It will also see Studiocanal, Morel, and the producers of THE GUNMAN reunite, which suggests a good working relationship that’s always a plus.
Although the premise for THE KILLER/THE HUNTER (who knows if we’ll get different titles for the film), is nothing original and certainly has elements of Bourne and Bond, the book series has become a very quick success with a lot of high praise from fans of the thriller genre.
