Black & Blue Sign Co-Production Deal

UK indie studio Black and Blue Films yesterday announced a nine-film co-production deal with Soho based post-production company The Mews.

The deal with include the upcoming STRIPPERS VS WEREWOLVES and and Martin Kemp’s directorial debut STALKER.

Gareth Mullaney, MD of The Mews commented “‘We are delighted to be involved as co producers with Black and Blue Films on this slate of nine movies. Black and Blue are an exciting company with fantastic connections in production and importantly, casting. With our background in post production, the production partnership makes very good sense as both companies will make the most of our respective skills to deliver high quality and commercial films. The Mews will be investing equity and cash in the upcoming slate”

Black & Blue’s MD Jonathan Sothcott said “These are exciting times at Black & Blue – with Simon Phillips joining the team recently and now our partnership with the Mews we are set to move up to the next level. I have, like every indie producer, done the rounds of the London post houses, but most are not equipped to work at our budget levels. Gareth Mullaney and the team at Mews are shrewd, smart businessmen but they also care about what they do and have an impressive creative sensibility. This partnership will mean more high-concept, low-budget commercial films get made in Britain – and that’s a good thing in these tough economic times.

Black and Blue’s latest film ELFIE HOPKINS, starring Ray and Jaime Winstone will be screening a promo reel at Cannes.
