J.K. Rowling doesn’t tend to take to Twitter unless she really has something to say, so it’s always a complete delight when she pops up with that incredible writerly charm of hers, compacted beautifully into 140 characters (or, in this case, 280).
This morning, the beloved Harry Potter author (who now also writes crime fiction under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith) took to Twitter to address an article she’d spotted which suggested that she had just handed in a new ‘romantic novel’ to her publishers – something she rather strongly denies.
Here’s the explanation:
There’s a story in today’s Mail that I was in a London bar on Monday ‘celebrating’ handing in a ‘romantic novel’ to my publishers…

Her reaction is superb, and really gets to the point in just two tweets.
1) I haven’t handed in ANY kind of novel to my publishers. I’m only half way through my current book. 2) It isn’t a ‘romantic’ novel.
