SNOWTOWN director Justin Kurzel is turning his directorial hand to Shakespeare with next year’s new adaptation of MACBETH – and with an all-star cast including Marion Cotillard, Michael Fassbender, Sean Harris, David Thewlis and Paddy Considine, the film is set to be one of the big films of 2015.

We caught up with actor Ross Anderson (full interview coming soon!) who plays Rosse in the film and, after discussing his work in UNBROKEN and THE SILENT STORM, we were just able to get a little inside perspective on what we can expect from this MACBETH. Despite being cast alongside some of his childhood heroes, being part of this incredible cast hasn’t seemed to intimidate Anderson. Here’s what he had to say about just what makes this adaptation of the Shakespearean classic so different to what has come before:

“It’s presented in a very raw, human way. It’s pretty mind-blowing.”

Having acted in the play previously in stage productions, Anderson said he just knew Justin Kurzel would do a good job on the story with which he is clearly already so familiar:

“You watch SNOWTOWN and your days are dark for a while after… As soon as I heard that Justin [Kurzel] was doing it, I thought “that’s the guy!” . . . if anyone’s going to make a really dark, intense version of it, it’s him.”

Anderson was, unsurprisingly, rather impressed with the cast that had been put together for this new film:

“My first day on set, I was just flabbergasted by the amount of talent in the room,” he explained. “[Fassbender] has this star quality about him. He’s just so charismatic and it seems to come effortlessly to him . . . he has this ability to go from being really playful to really intense, really quickly. I wanted to be a sponge on that job, to try and absorb some of what they have!”

MACBETH is set for release in early 2015.
