THE SOCIAL NETWORK star Armie Hammer is set to play the Lone Ranger to Johnny Depp’s Tonto in the Jerry Bruckheimer produced movie THE LONE RANGER, which is set up at Disney.
Variety reports the news of the official casting, which was heavily rumoured last week. Hammer played the Winklevoss twins in David Fincher’s Facebook movie to much acclaim, and now it seems that his hard work has paid off playing one of the leads in a big, bad Jerry Bruckheimer production.
THE LONE RANGER will be Bruckheimer’s first post PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES project, which comes out in UK cinemas today.
Hammer is about to start work on THE BROTHERS GRIMM: SNOW WHITE opposite Julia Roberts, and has just finished up work on Clint Eastwood’s J Edgar Hoover biopic.
Gore Verbinski directs ‘Lone Ranger,’ from a script by Justin Haythe.
