MAD MAX: FURY ROAD started shooting all of the way back in July of 2012 – so by my reckoning, it will have been three years by the time it finally makes it to cinemas this summer. Actually, we’ve been waiting 30 years for a new sequel to the George Miller franchise that began with Mel Gibson all of the way back in 1979. In ‘Fury Road’ Tom Hardy assumes the role of Max, with the action pretty much revolving around an apparent continuous road chase; ‘a western on wheels, with very little dialogue’ (a quote from Miller at the San Diego Comic-Con).
You’ll be able to see this in cinemas from 15th May, but here’s a new international (Japanese) trailer for the movie. Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley also star.
An apocalyptic story set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and almost everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life. Within this world exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There’s Max, a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos. And Furiosa, a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.
