Last week, the Tribeca Film Festival announced its slate for the 14th edition of the Festival that will take place in various locations throughout downtown Manhattan, New York from April 15-26.
In numerous waves, the TFF 2015 line-ups were revealed for the World Narrative, Documentary, Special, Spotlight, and Midnight sections as well as the Shorts program and Viewpoints section that recognises fresh voices in international and American independent cinema.
Chosen from a total of 6223 submissions, this year’s film selection includes feature films from 31 countries, including 64 World Premieres, three International Premieres, 13 North American Premieres, five U.S. Premieres, 11 New York Premieres and one restoration. A total of 119 directors will present feature works at the festival, with 40 of these filmmakers making their feature directorial debuts.
Female directors in particular, make TFF history this year with over one-quarter of the Festival’s feature film directors being women. From the thirty female feature film directors, nine directors will be featured in one of the festival’s most popular programs – the World Documentary competition – and include Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg (THE DEVIL CAME ON HORSEBACK), Leah Wolchok (VERY SEMI-SERIOUS), and Pamela Romanowsky (THE ADDERALL DIARIES).
Additionally, 12 narrative and 12 documentary features making their North American, International, or World Premieres will compete for cash prizes totaling $225,000, as well as artwork from the Artists Awards program, featuring donated work from contemporary artists.
The festival also announced that AT&T’s ‘Film for All’ Friday will be returning to TFF 2015 and will again invite audiences to festival screenings for free on Friday April 24 .
