Joe Dante Is ‘Burying The Ex’ In Directorial Return

Joe Dante has to be one of our favourite underrated directors. The man brought GREMLINS to the big screen as well as its sequel GREMLINS 2: THE NEW BATCH, a film I watched far too much as a young child. He’s also responsible for THE HOWLING, THE ‘BURBS, INNERSPACE and the cult television classic Eerie Indiana.

His last big screen outing was the ridiculously creepy kids film THE HOLE. Don’t confuse it with the Thora Birch, Keira Knightley teen thriller, Dante’s film saw a trio of kids unearth a mysterious hole in their new house. The hole had the ability to read people’s darkest fears and has some truly terrifying scenes. Seriously I don’t know how kids made it through that film!

Now just over five years later Dante is back with a deliciously dark romantic zombie comedy. The film stars Anton Yelchin as Max, a young man head over heels with his firecracker of a girlfriend Evelyn (TWILIGHT’s Ashley Greene). Things are going great until she moves in and Max she’s that she is actually a nightmare. Before he can break up with her Evelyn is killed. Several weeks later Max finally starts to move on with new flame Olivia (Alexandra Daddario) only for Evelyn to return from beyond the grave determined to win him back. Check out the trailer now:

BURYING THE EX will be available digitally in the UK and the US on 19th June.
